1. Both resorts are gated communities in the Davenport area, around 20 minutes by car from Disney World, Solana was built about a decade after Highlands Reserve so the accommodation is more modern in design. Highland Reserve villas have a more private, classic appeal.
2. Highlands Reserve villas are built around the Highland Reserve golf links. The area is tranquil and quiet. There are 900 private villas to choose from and each luxury villa is spacious with its own pool – there is also a communal pool and play area. Solana has a modern club house, gym facilities, a kids' play area and a communal pool. Solana is more targeted to family parties.
3. Both resorts are similar price-wise. Villas are rented from private owners so there is a possibility of negotiating on price. Highland Reserve luxury villas tend to be more homely and traditional. Solana accommodation has clean architectural lines and is more modern.
4. The major attraction of Highland Reserve is for golf enthusiasts – it has its own golf course. Solana has an 18 hole mini-golf course.
