Distance to Disney

Walt Disney World is a 20 minute drive by car north along the US27 then east along the 192 and finally north along the 429. An alternative route to avoid traffic is to continue along the 129 and and take a left onto Sherberth Road. Then continue along Sherberth Road until you reach a set of traffic lights. Turning left will take you to Animal Kingdom. Turning right will take you onto the Osceola Parkway. For Animal Kingdom get into the left lane. For Epcot, Magic Kingdom and all other parks you need to take a left at the traffic lights further on along the Osceola Parkway.

Getting Around and Transport Options

Highlands Reserve is minutes from the Disney attractions, close to a full facility shopping mall facility including a traditional British pub and perfectly located in south west Orlando for those wishing to access the gulf coast beach resorts of Clearwater and St Petersburg, a few hours by car. The resort is one of many dotted along the US27 highway in Polk County Davenport. Both Orlando airports are easily accessed but like most short term villa rental communities Highlands Reserve lies to the south and west of the greater Orlando urban area meaning transits of around an hour to both Orlando International (MCO) and Orlando Sanford (SFB).

All the major parks can be reached easily from Highlands Reserve with Universal Orlando and SeaWorld best accessed by heading south along US highway 27 then joining the I4 north. Hiring a car is a must when staying in the resort. Orlando is a large urban sprawl so getting around without a car is not advised and can make your trip unnecessarily stressful; more stressful than driving in an unknown city so we highly recommend investigating car hire before your trip.

Shops and restaurants

Depending on where you are located within the resort (streets lying to the north around Hampton Drive North), Berry Town Centre can be reached by foot. You'll find a good selection of excellent shops and restaurants here most notably Applebee's, a favourite amongst Highlands Reserve visitors. You'll also find a large Publix supermarket in Berry Town Centre; perfect for stocking up on villa essentials including food for barbeques.

Travel further afield

Florida is a huge state with wildly different terrains and there is a lot to see. Both coasts are easily accessible using Highlands Reserve as your base. The Atlantic beaches of the east coast and Kennedy Space Centre are accessible east along the 417 then 528 in around 1hr 20mins by car.
